SEA-EU Cooking Contest 2021

SEA-EU - the European University of the Seas organizes cooking competition for students at CAU
On February 22, a Europe-wide cooking competition will start as part of the university initiative SEA-EU - European University of the Seas. Students from all faculties at Kiel University (CAU) and SEA-EU partner universities Brest, Gdansk, Cadiz, Malta and Split can participate with their best recipe for a nice meal. No matter whether it is an appetizer, a main course or a dessert – all creative cooks from Kiel are invited to share their culinary knowledge with their fellow European students. Cooking favorite recipes together and getting to know European specialties - that is the idea behind the SEA-EU cooking competition. Anyone who would like to share his or her favorite recipe with our European neighbors is invited to take part in the Europe-wide cooking challenge. Simply pick a great recipe, cook it and present it creatively. Ideally, the recipe should be inspired by the "sea" - such as a dish from the sea or a waterfront presentation. Bonus points are awarded for using sustainably sourced food or a particularly creative presentation. The focus, however, should be on the fun of cooking itself and the exchange with the European partner universities.

The best recipe in each category will be determined by a combining a jury vote with a vote on SEA-EU social media channels. The jury will consist of professional chefs and cooking-enthusiastic project staff. Prizes include gift cards, worth 20 euros each, from Jacks Kitchen, Café Resonanz and the store “Unverpackt”. The three best recipes will also represent the German SEA-EU partner in a virtual European cooking festival that will take place on the social media channel of the entire alliance in April and May 2021.

About SEA-EU
One campus with six universities for all students and without bureaucratic hurdles to obtain study credits in another European country - that is the vision of SEA-EU - the European University of the Seas. Kiel University is a member of this alliance and therefore belongs to those 17 European Universities alliances that successfully received funding by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union in 2019. Together with its partners in Cadiz, Brest, Split, Malta and Gdansk it will develop concepts for a joint university campus and launch initial pilot projects over the next two years. These include joint lectures and language courses on the one hand, and the removal of bureaucratic hurdles to student mobility and the harmonization of study conditions on the other - initially for marine science, and later for other courses of study. The initiative also aims to strengthen the European identity of students and promote European cohesion. To this end, the SEA-EU project teams at the six partner universities jointly and regularly organize activities such as a photo or cooking competition to facilitate students' dialog with their fellow European students.
