The preliminary round within CAU will take place between the 1st and the 21st of November 2020. The top three photos will qualify for the final round at European level taking place between the 1st and the 21st of December 2020

How will the winners be selected?
The preliminary phase at CAU will take place in multiple stages:

  1. From the submitted photos 20 pictures that fulfil the thematic and qualitative requirements will be preselected by the SEA-EU Outreach Subcommittee from Kiel University and subsequently will be examined by an independent jury. Note that while three pictures can be submitted per person, only one per person will be selected for the next rounds.
  2. The jury consists of the director of the marine film festival CineMare Kiel Dr. Till Dietsche, Dr. Elisabeth Grunwald from the International Center of Kiel University, Jan Winters from the press office of Kiel University and the journalist and professional photographer Tom Körber. The jury members will select 12 photos that will be published on Instagram (@seaeu.kieluni).
  3. Now it is up to the public! The three photos that gain the most likes on Instagram will win the competition at CAU and qualify for the final European round.
  4. The final round will take place on a European level between the different universities. Both public opinion and a jury vote will be taken into consideration and are counted as follows:
    a.    Social media: 40 %
    b.    Jury: 60% (Jury composition: 1 member nominated by each SEA-EU partner).
