SEA-EU-Cooking Contest2021

Get your forks and knives ready! On February 22nd, a cooking contest will take place within the SEA-EU alliance. Students of the six partner universities – Kiel, Brest Gdansk, Cádiz, Malta and Split – are invited to submit their recipes to display the culinary variety of their respective country. No matter whether it is a starter, a main course or a dessert – this contest is your chance to show the other universities your cooking skills. The contest is open to students of all faculties at Kiel University. The submission deadline is the 17th of March 2021.

How can you participate?
Just fill out the registration form and send us the following:
1)    Your favourite recipe encompassing the following information: title; timing indications (preparation and cooking time); list of necessary ingredients and the cooking instructions (Word, PDF or jpeg).
2)    A picture of the required ingredients, the cooking process and a picture of the final resulting dish. If you like, you can send us a selfie of you with your final dish (optional).
3)    A short text explaining why you chose this recipe. This can include a ‘green tip’.

**Bonus Points**
You can receive bonus points if you incorporate some of the following aspects:

  • The recipe is inspired by the “sea”, for instance through use of ingredients or presentation.
  • Think about the environmental impact of your dish. (The ‘green tip’: How well does this recipe reflect a more sustainable use of ingredients and resources, e.g. regional/seasonal ingredients).  
  • Be creative! Either through the use of ingredients or in the final presentation. You have even more ideas? Document this through a short text, picture or even a video.
  • Does this recipe have a special meaning (for instance, it is a family recipe or it is connected to a special memory)? Shortly write us why!

 

Submission deadline
Please send us the registration form and all necessary documents/pictures until the 17th of March to the SEA-EU team of Kiel University (press_seaeu@kms.uni-kiel.de).

These prizes are waiting for you:
The three best recipes will be rewarded with a 20 Euro gift certificate to either Jack’s Kitchen, “Unverpackt”, or the Resonanz Café. This will be decided by lottery after the jury has placed its vote.

How will the winners be selected?
Recipes that fulfil the requirements will be posted on Instagram (@seaeu.kieluni) and subjected to a public vote, which will count 40% of the final result. The vote on Social Media will take place between the 22nd and the 26th of March 2021 (until 15:00).  
Simultaneously, a jury consisting of four members will assess the submitted material. The vote of the jury counts 60%. The results of the Cooking Contest will be published on Instagram (@seaeu.kieluni) at the end of March. The winners will be contacted via E-Mail.
There will be one winning recipe per category (starter, main course, dessert).

Virtual European Cooking Festival
Between the 27th of April and the 7th of May 2021 the 18 best recipes of the entire alliance will be presented on Instagram (@seaeualliance). Students from all partner universities are invited to participate from home by testing the recipes from the other five countries.


Within this period, one day will be dedicated to a certain country:
French cooking day – 27th of April
German cooking day – 28th of April
Croatian cooking day – 30th of April
Maltese cooking day – 5th of May
Polish cooking day – 6th of May
Spanish cooking day –  7th of May.

The 18 best recipes will be published in a booklet in PDF form on the website of the SEA-EU alliance (www.sea-eu.org).
