Research questions

Most of the research of Malte Braack is related to efficient and accurate numerical methods for partial differential equationss. Central research questions include:

  • To what extend may adaptive methods help to reduce the numerical costs of solving partial differential equations? This is particulary interesting in connection with flow problems, e.g. ocean flows or atmospheric flows.
  • How do we control the effect of under resolution ?
  • What is the most efficient way of discretize partial differential equations?
  • How may adaptive modelling help to solve complex problems including multi-physical or chemical phenomena?
